The Sun Eaters
The Grue are geniuses. They will tell you that themselves. They are a never ending fount of ideas, most of which work. They are a welcome addition to Our Heros effort because of their vast scientific knoweldge (+5 with all Int rolls).
They are Ergivores, They CAN eat meat, and enjoy it ocasionally. But most of their sustinance comes from creating a temprature differential between their tentacles and their main body. This creates a electrical field on which the Grue feed.
The down side to this is that for a week out of every month, All Grue hibernate in some fashion where there is such a temprature differance. Most of the time this is under the water at the thermacline tens of feet below the surface. But it CAN be something as small as some spot of permanent shade. On “Mirror”, in the old days, hundreds of Grue would gather in loosely roped floating corrals and just float there generating ergs. This of course left them easy prey for the Entaine. And once the Grue left their homeworld, easy prey for the Hurune as well.
These days, after so much persecution, the Grue are very much more cautious.
