Description:

Typical red skinned Vlees, hairless from head to fingered feet, uses his tail in combat, in sick bay, and in romantic situations. Packed muscle layered beneath a formidable frame weighing in at over 260lbs and can lift over 650lbs.

BACKGROUND

Raised in the privileged Breed of Vlees, his fathers expect great things from him. Applying his medical background in the service of Here and Us throughout space, he co-captains the Iris to both heal and conquer the universe. He makes time for his writings (composed of several books, articles, and reports), notably his findings in the curious and fascinating oddities found thus far in space, which should have the heads throughout the medical field spinning for years. Yado continues to crank out pages in his compilation manual for combat medics. He is especially noting methods (and theory) for practical exercises in developing and expanding the minds of combat healers. Along with the Star Sister’s crystals red marines will have less need for bulky medical equipment. Yado is hopeful some of these experiments will be even more useful outside of the medical field.

Also, Yado is behind schedule in producing a child to continue his bloodline.

FAMILY BACKGROUND

Even among the Vlees, the Andico bloodline has been plagued with controversy over medical practices that skirt the edges of acceptable practice. Yet, somehow, the Andico family always managed to circumvent magisterial interference. For the most part, the public has been only vaguely aware of potential impropriety among any of the Vlees bloodlines. As a matter of social policy, because the Vlees breed has enough to contend with in their general reputation, they strictly leave any unsavory details outside of Vlees circles unsaid, but not always unfelt. However, within Vlees circles, gossip plays on the tip of every innuendo, and Vlees sarcasm has become something of an artform, with more than one popular screenplay making it into the dryer social class must-see charts.

Yado was named after his great grandfather, who made remarkable discoveries with his research into genes associated with breed characteristics. His great grandfather’s work was the primary research used by the military and top government R&D facilities. It is rumored that his best work was never actually made available to anyone outside of the facility in which he worked. When the lab was destroyed by enemy sabotage, his work was assumed to be lost, or at best stolen by insurgents or even US military. When the government released “Breeds Among Us”, they did so using Andico’s research siting his numerous facts regarding specific breed characteristics, with the intent to encourage self-regulated breeding and curtail cross-breeding, which had not really been prevalent at the time. Although, it was common knowledge that breeds had particular tendencies, much of the research touted in “Breeds Among Us” simply backed up with facts and proved to the common US that breeds had gene driven characteristics. This was the tamer side of Andico’s research.

Some years later, subtle details discovered by one of Andico’s old colleagues may have come from his old experiments. Paperwork from a decommissioned facility revealed that the facility may already have had some success in creating an Urber-breed. This was quickly discounted and all traces of such paperwork has gone missing, but the rumors persist.

Andico’s son, Raego, showed a particular affinity for surgery. It was widely known among the Vlees that Raego had taken to experimenting on himself when he could find no volunteers for his wild ideas about the extremes in re-constructive surgery. It wasn’t until Raego met his wife, Tulaoga, that he found a ready participant in his experiments to reshape the Us body. She was also a surgeon, but her skills were far greater in her own capacity to utilize her empathic healing to augment surgery, which went far beyond what was considered safe. The two became notorious at parties for showing up in bandages or showing off new scars from recent “accidents”. Scars that would inexplicably vanish before the next social event. Suddenly, Raego and Tulaoga dropped from the social scene. Friends last heard of some big contract with some agency and the two were hardly ever seen. They had two girls and two boys, which was quite the controversy in those days, at least among the Vlees. In their later years they quietly slipped away to their dream home.

Yado’s father, Bado Andico, took to medicine like he’d been born practicing, excelling in immunology, neurobiology, embryology, and later into genetic therapy and cloning. Due to his family reputation he was watched, and his aptitude was recognized early. Bado was recruited into military service as quickly as the law would allow. His subsequent accomplishments and obsession for perfection drove him through the military ranks like a knife through butter. This did not always bode well, but Bado endured the jealous ridicule. His siblings knew that Bado would need to produce offspring and pestered him about it often. Continuing the bloodline was of utmost importance. They knew he was gay, and during the course of an inebriated family discourse came up with the idea of producing a male egg, which had already been successful in the creation of other children. It was an expensive proposition. The idea sat there for a while, but it wasn’t long before Bado met his lifemate Yuoakou, who was to be Yado’s father, and their male egg was fertilized. Bado retired as soon as he was eligible. He did not leave military service entirely but has sense been used as a consultant. Yuoakou was a combat medic and pilot.

Later it was discovered that Bado’s sister, Takaou, with the help of her husband arranged several chance encounters between Bado and Yuoakou to help facilitate their falling in love. Bado’s sister was a leading researcher in sociobiology, specializing in breed compatibility and cross-breed socio-dynamic. She was the one that found Bado’s perfect match. Even though, one of Yuoakou’s grandfathers was not Vlees, Takaou felt that the genetic impact complimented Yuoakou’s Vlees characteristics.

Yado was the first child of Yuoakou and Bado. Yado had a sister, who was getting more more dangerous in wrestling than Yado.

PERSONALITY

Has a deep need to heal and protect but always contends with his suppressed drive to conquer, which periodically manifests as a desire for hand to hand combat. His alpha tendency to mete out immediate justice is usually tempered enough by his upbringing to quell the arrogant streak in his bloodline. Overcoming his bloodline’s tendency, Yado developed a feeling of personal responsibility toward the preservation of life, but his cold darker side still wants his enemy’s complete destruction.

Falling in love with Bo’ab had been the oddest sensation Yado has ever felt. Next, he’ll be working on making a baby with Bo’ab.

QUOTE

I have patch for that.

POWERS/TACTICS

Medical background backed up with his empathic healing, Yado tends to welcome conflict and literally leaps into combat if his healing skills are not required.
